TerraNovaID takes a different approach. What you read on this page is not a policy document. It is a description of how the system is built.
The protections described here are structural. They cannot be reversed by a management decision, a board vote, or a commercial opportunity.
What ownership actually means.
Not the marketing version.
You have heard ‘your data is yours’ from many platforms. Usually it means: we store it for you and you can look at it. Sometimes it means: we let you download a copy. Rarely does it mean: we genuinely cannot access it for our own purposes.
Here is what ownership means at TerraNovaID.
- Encrypted at restYour Portrait content is encrypted on the server. This is not optional. It is the default state. Even in the event of a security breach, your identity data remains protected.
- You control accessOnly you decide who sees what. Nothing is visible by default. Not to other users, not to TerraNovaID, not to partners. Every form of sharing is a deliberate choice you make and can revoke at any time.
- Full exportYou can export your complete Portrait at any time. As a readable document for yourself, or as structured data if you want to take it somewhere else. What you built is yours even if you leave.
- Real deletionDeletion is real, complete and simple. Not archived. Not anonymised and retained. Actually deleted. One confirmation. Done.
- Never commercialisedYour Portrait content is never used for advertising, sold to third parties, or analysed for commercial purposes. The business model is structurally designed so this can never become attractive.
Your Portrait content is never used to train AI.
Not a policy. A structural prohibition.
When you use most AI-powered platforms, your interactions become training data. The model learns from you, and from millions of others. Over time, your contributions become indistinguishable from the model itself. You gave something personal. The platform used it to improve a product. You cannot take it back.
TerraNovaID does not work this way. Your Portrait, your reflections, your experiments, everything you create here, is never used to train AI models. Not ours. Not anyone else’s. This prohibition is enforced at the infrastructure level. It is not a setting that someone can switch off. It is not a promise that depends on good intentions. It is how the system is built.
When AI is involved in your experience, for example in reflective conversation or contextual insight, it operates within a session boundary. It accesses only what you explicitly permit, for that specific session. When the session ends, the access ends. There is no ambient AI awareness of your identity document.
Eight boundaries that cannot be overridden.

These are not guidelines. They are structural prohibitions built into the governance of TerraNovaID. They cannot be overridden by a commercial opportunity, a partnership deal, an investor, or any management decision. If one is violated, the response is immediate correction. Not negotiation.

Values without structure are wishes.
Here is the structure.
- Mission lockThe core values and red lines are embedded in the legal structure of the organisation. They cannot be overridden by a board decision or a change of leadership. They are constitutional.
- Independence imperativeNo single revenue source may account for more than 25% of total income. This prevents the kind of financial dependency that forces mission compromises.
- Alignment testEvery financial and strategic decision is tested: does this strengthen the conditions for genuine identity work, or does it weaken them? If the answer is uncertain, the answer is no.
- Ethical reviewNew features, partnerships and policy changes undergo ethical review before implementation. The review assesses impact on autonomy, privacy, non-judgment and ownership.
These mechanisms are not aspirational. They are operational. They constrain what TerraNovaID can and cannot do, by design.
