For Practitioners

For those who hold space for others.
A reflective instrument, to bring along.

Therapists, coaches, teachers, guides, ritual-keepers, organisational advisors. People who already sit with others as they look for what they want to live by. The Portrait is here for you too, and it can become an instrument you bring along.

What this is, before anything else

The Portrait is not a method.
It is a reflective instrument.

TerraNovaID begins with a question that comes earlier than behaviour. Who is this person in relation to the living world they live in. What do they already recognise. What has been quietly true for them, long before anyone gave it a name.

The Portrait gives them their own language for that. No score, no comparison, no tier to climb. A mirror, returned in their own voice. From there, behaviour follows on its own pace, because it grows out of recognition rather than instruction.

That is the centre of what we hold. Identity first. Behaviour follows. You can read more at Why this matters, and the longer ground at Ecological identity.

And one thing, gently. The Portrait is for you first. Before you bring it to anyone else, meet it for yourself. What you recognise in your own reflection is what you will be able to sit with in another. There is no separate practitioner-version, and no shortcut.

What the Portrait can be, where you sit with others

A reflection, not a prescription.
Where it might fit, you will know best.

The Portrait family holds different shapes for different moments. Some are free and complete on their own. Some are quiet artefacts someone keeps. None are designed to be delivered by a practitioner. They belong to the person who takes them. Your part, if you choose to bring it along, is invitation and accompaniment, not facilitation of a method.

There is no certification needed to point someone here. The Portrait is open to anyone. What changes with verified practitioner status, below, is recognition between you and TerraNovaID, not access for the people you accompany.

Recognition, when it is time

A verified practitioner status.
In time, and through qualification.

In a later phase, TerraNovaID will recognise practitioners who have met the Portrait deeply themselves, and who have grown a way of accompanying others through it that holds the same register. That recognition becomes a verified-practitioner status.

What it gives you: a quiet entry on a public directory, a way for people who already trust you to find that we know each other, and a reduced rate on your own Annual Membership once it opens. What it does not give you: any priority over the people you accompany, any access they do not have, any tier above them.

Verified status becomes available after qualification. The process and timing will be announced.

For now, nothing is asked of you in order to point someone here. The Portrait is open to anyone, with or without a practitioner beside them. If you want to be notified when verification opens, the simplest is to begin by meeting the Portrait yourself, and keeping an eye on the Letters.

For your own staying-with-it

A reduced rate on your own Membership.
Because you live with this too.

Once verified, you can hold an Annual Membership at a reduced rate. The reason is plain. You meet the Portrait more often than most, and what you sit with quietly carries into the way you accompany others. Keeping that within reach matters.

The shape of the reduction will be announced together with the verification process. There is no urgency. Annual Membership itself opens later in TerraNovaID's arc, alongside the tools that live in days. Until then, the Companion membership already lets the slower writing reach you between Portraits.

You can read about all the ways to stay close at What you'll find here.

What is still to come

Honest about what is here.
Honest about what is not, yet.

TerraNovaID is in its first phase. The Portrait, the Letters, the writing in Observe, the slower companions across Explore and Inhabit, are what is here now. Some of what would sit naturally alongside practice is still in the making. Three things in particular.

None of these are required for you to bring the Portrait into the space you already hold. They are what will grow alongside, not what holds you up.

The wider field this work stands in

TerraNovaID does not stand alone in this work. The Inner Development Goals, an openly published framework from the IDG Foundation, map the inner capacities that lasting outer change grows from: five dimensions and twenty-three skills, a set still in revision. One of those skills, Connectedness, names a person’s felt relationship with the living world. That single skill is the whole of TerraNovaID’s ground. Where the framework names the relationship in a few lines, the Portrait gives someone the time to see what is already there, and the words to say so.

Begin where it begins for everyone.
With your own Portrait.

Whatever you decide to bring along later, the first step is the same as for the people you accompany. Meet the Portrait yourself. That reading is yours to keep, and yours to return to.

Identity first. Behaviour follows.
